Awards Day Submission, Spring 2026

In concert with the School of the Arts and Architecture (SOAA), AUD receives various gifts each year from individuals and organizations to support continuing students. These awards are open to continuing students -- in other words, students who will be returning for studies in the 2026-2027 academic year, including undergraduate students from the B.A. program, continuing graduate students from the MArch program (current first- and second-year MArch students), and M.A./Ph.D students.

Awards are distributed via an application and review process detailed below, and will be announced at AUD’s Awards Day during Rumble 2026 in June.

To be considered for this funding: Continuing graduate students from the MArch program (current first- and second-year MArch students) and M.A./Ph.D students must submit an application via the links below no later than Friday, April 10 @ 5 PM PDT. Continuing undergraduate students will be automatically considered for undergraduate-eligible awards, with no application needed

PLEASE NOTE:

Submit an application, along with any required supplemental material, e.g. eFAN, a paragraph describing your experiences as related to the award criteria e.g. Interdisciplinary collaborations, career change, etc. Supplemental materials vary according to award. Please read the award eligibility and requirements carefully.

Portfolio submissions must not exceed 20 pages, nor include more than four projects compiled in a single PDF file (not to exceed 15 MB). All work presented must have been completed for academic credit at UCLA. Project descriptions should note studio or seminar course number/name, group or individual project.

Paper submissions (M.A./Ph.D. students only) must include research papers or published material. All papers submitted must include an abstract and be a single PDF file.

The jury for Awards Day will take place in early May and announcements will be made during RUMBLE celebrations.

All faculty will be invited to review and discuss submissions, and make the final award determinations. Faculty will nominate meritorious portfolios/papers; and awards will be given to students based on eligibility criteria and number of faculty nominations. A minimum of five ladder faculty members will participate.

If faculty determines that there is no work that merits a particular award due to inadequate eligibility and limited submissions, the award may not be given in a particular year.

Paper submissions will be reviewed separately initially, and then the top submissions will be considered alongside a short list compiled from the portfolio review process.
