Julia Koerner 3D Printing
Congratulations to faculty member Julia Koerner, whose 3D printed designs were featured in the movie Black Panther, which was recently recognized with a 2019 Academy Award for Best Costume Design.
Koerner, a Los Angeles-based Austrian architect and the founder of JK Design GmbH. She has won many awards for her work, which is at the convergence of architecture, product and fashion design - specializing in additive manufacturing and robotic technology.
Koerner collaborated with Ruth E. Carter, costume designer for the movie Black Panther, to create the 3D printed crown and shoulder piece worn by Queen Ramonda pictured above, the character played by Angela Bassett.
