Andrew Kovacs Unveils "Colossal Cacti" Installation at Coachella 2019
Even if you didn't go to Coachella this year, you probably couldn't escape the images of festival-goers reverberating across social media – especially Instagram. UCLA Architecture and Urban Design Assistant Adjunct Professor Andrew Kovacs of Office Kovacs was behind one of this year's Instagram highlights "Collosal Cacti."
Consisting of seven large, brightly-colored saguaro-like sculptures that range in size from 13-52 feet, the installation as described by Kovacs is a unique opportunity to expose festivalgoers to architecture and design concepts they might not otherwise think much about. “You don’t have to bring people to architecture, you can bring architecture to people,” he said.
