2011 Index Award

UCLA Professor Greg Lynn designs pavilions for 2011 INDEX Awards

Greg Lynn designed the outdoor exhibition pavilions for the world’s largest design prize, the INDEX Awards: Design to Improve Life 2011.  The 9 traveling exhibition pavilions contain over 50 objects designed by the finalists and prize winners in five categories.  The pavilions were designed to be durable, easy to assemble and disassemble, lightweight and as compact as possible for shipping as they will visit dozens of cities around the world during the next two years and will be seen by over 10 million visitors.
Pavilions CNC machined from carbon reinforced plastic sheets and aluminum sandwich panels to be light and strong.
