Studio Trip – Yale Architecture

Half way through our trip to New York, the studio met up at Grand Central Station and hopped on a train
to New Haven. We had been studying Eero Saarinen, Louis Kahn and Gordon Bunshaft so this
was not an opportunity we could not pass up.

Despite our interest in history, our day started with the newest building on Campus. Kroon Hall, the new building for the Yale school of Forestry and Environmental studies is a beacon of sustainability with LEED platinum status. Yale's greenest building on campus maximizes use of natural light, generates its own energy through PVC and a battery of other passive systems. Every inch of this place is an active contributor to regulating its influence on the surrounding environment and vice versa. Hopefully you all enjoy the photos of us exploring Yale and its impressive collection of art, architecture and history.
