GALLERY I CHOREOGRAPHY OF FORM (2016 FALL)
2016 FALL TECH SEMINAR I CHOREOGRAPHY OF FORM
2016 Fall Quarter Tech Seminar titled “Choreography of Form” was a 10 week seminar where students have been looking into various types of choreographic movements, techniques and animations in order to learn how animated forms and spatial elements play together in relation to timeframes. Chronophotographic techniques by Étienne-Jules Marey was given as reference to help finding ways to setup motion trails and camera snapshots.
Students initially conducted research on various dance genres as precedent studies including ballet, figure skating, breakdancing and contemporary stage performances to learn how bodily movements are expressed through timeframes. After selecting one dance movement, students traced bodily movements of various dances styles using contemporary digital techniques to create abstract forms. After mid review, students brought these abstract forms into a given courtyard space to study the interrelationship in between objects and cameras in real scale and time.
