International architect and A.UD professor Mark Mack will give a talk on March 7th to open the first of three major exhibitions focusing on architecture at the KANEKO Museum in Omaha, Nebraska during 2013. Unrealized Projects on view through April 27 will feature work by Omaha firms DLR. HDR, Leo A. Daly, and RDG, as well as Mack's design for the new Collection Building at KANEKO.
The KANEKO Collection building in Omaha, Nebraska 2012 will house a collection of Jun Kaneko's ceramic works, the 13 feet high Dango's will form the centerpiece, among a vast array of glass and ceramic work, public works, drawings, watercolors, and miscellaneous works. The proposed building will complete the KANEKO complex, consisting of galleries for curated shows, fine arts library and educational facilities. The completed array of buildings, existing renovated warehouses situated on a city block in the historic Old Market Place area of Downtown Omaha will add over 100 000sf of new cultural space to this emerging district. Mack Architects are the design architects for both the existing and new buildings, overseeing as well the public art component of the open space connected to the adjacent sites as well as consulting with the KANEKO a series of upcoming exhibitions on architecture.
