To create and build new design concepts, the IDEAS campus provides a studio environment adjacent to technology laboratories with access to two of the largest industrial Kuka robots available in a university setting, cutting edge fabrication, 3D-printing and augmented reality tools.
The IDEAS campus Technology Lab houses two of the largest Kuka Robots available in a university setting around the world. We also have two smaller Kuka Robots available for use. Students perform robotic automation for both subtractive and additive manufacturing processes, filming, and fabrication with the ability to work with a wide range of materials and scales. Students conduct research from automated bending, assembly, and composite fiber production.
The Fabrication shop offers large-scale CNC machines, including laser cutters and 3D printers. All of these tools are available in our shop including production areas with instructional work spaces.
Virtual Reality Lab is a live space where students and their instructor create an experience of an actual real-world environment whose elements are augmented through computer-generated sensory input such as architectural elements, graphics, animations, light, sound, video, or GPS data. The lab includes high end computer equipment as well as experimental virtual reality headsets from Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.
