Montalba is a founding Principal of Montalba Architects, Inc., a diverse architecture and design studio of over 40 designers based in Santa Monica, California with a satellite office in Lausanne, Switzerland. The firm is engaged in retail, residential and other select commercial projects across the United States and abroad. Montalba’s diverse background as an architect includes over 24 years of professional practice, and this work has been recognized in various publications and with numerous awards, including the AIA’s National Young Architect Award in 2008, a 2011 AIA Institute Honor Award, and most recently his elevation into the AIA College of Fellows. Montalba has served as a past Board Member and Treasurer of the Los Angeles chapter of the American Institute of Architects, and as an advisor to the AIA’s Academic Outreach, 2x8 Exhibition Committee and the Dwell on Design Committee. He has also served as an active Board Member of the A+D Museum in Los Angeles. Montalba is a registered LEED professional and a member of the FAIA, SIA, and NCARB while being a licensed architect in eight states as well as British Columbia, Canada.
